When we took over the IT support for Bellview Clinic in Mullingar (a large private practice) they were moving into a complete new premises, which required a full IT refit. The building was an old infirmary built in 1771. It required an entire network installation from scratch. The following tasks were performed to ensure a top quality system was installed at the right budget.

Full IT fit-out

Consultation with the staff on their requirements.

We called out to the site and talked with the practice manger and the doctors about what they required out of their IT network. We viewed their current server and clients that needed to be migrated to the new premises. We then did a site survey of the new building and consulted with the builders on the location of the comms room and the layout of the building.

Installation

On signoff we undertook full cabling of the building in conjunction with their builders. Including cabinets and patch panels.

Next we installed a Hyper V Rack Mounted Server with 3 virtual servers – Domain Controller, Mail Exchange Server and a Server for the practice management software.

24 client PCs with networking, security and all applications were installed. All peripherals such as printers, ECG machines, Ultrasounds etc were installed. User logins and emails were then setup. Also remote online backup was setup and tested, with a local backup to a NAS box.

Multiple test migrations of data and software were performed to ensure no unexpected issues would occur. We then migrated the HealthOne Practice Management software on the weekend of the move to ensure no downtime for our clients.

The project went live on budget and on schedule.

  • Onsite consultation with the practice manager and doctors
  • Analysis of current server and data that needed to be migrated
  • Site survey of the new building
  • Consultation with builders onsite of building layout and communications room.
